How do I know which classes will transfer to Fresno State? How do I know which classes will transfer to Fresno State? If you are not yet enrolled at Fresno State, you should check with your community college counselor to see which classes transfer, and which classes meet General Education (GE) requirements. If you have taken classes at a private college, or an out-of-state college, the Evaluations Office (278-4076) at Fresno State will evaluate your final, official transcripts to make the determination on what is transferable and where (General Education, Major, or Electives) you will receive credit. If you are transferring from a California Community College, you can check with ASSIST on the Internet (http://www.assist.org/web-assist/welcome.html) to see which courses are transferable, which courses count for GE, and which courses count for your major. Once your official transcripts have been evaluated by the Evaluations Office, you will receive an official DARS report. Yes. Transferable courses in which you have received a “D” grade will transfer to Fresno State. However, in order to be eligible for admission to Fresno State, a “C” grade is required in selected G.E. courses in addition to a 2.0 cumulative GPA in all transferable coursework. Courses for the major GPA usually require a “C” or better. Consult the academic department for specific requirements. I already have my AA/AS degree. Am I halfway done with my BA/BSdegree? At most California Community Colleges, the Associate's (AA/AS) degree consists of 60 units. Some of these units may not be transferable to the CSU, and there is no guarantee that you have met all transfer requirements. We evaluate each course you took rather than whether or not you received an Associate’s degree. I completed all the GE at my community college. Why do I have to do more? Community colleges can offer only Lower Division courses. To graduate from the CSU, you must complete 12 units of Upper Division General Education. Upper division courses must have been taken at a four-year institution. I was an EOPS student. Am I an EOP student now? Although you were considered an EOPS student at your community college, you would not automatically be considered an EOP student at Fresno State unless you had requested this at the time you applied. For more information, please contact the Educational Opportunity Program in the Joyal Administration Building, Room 224 (559/278-1787) or visit their website at http://studentaffairs.csufresno.edu/eop/ Contact your major department to see which instructors are providing major advising.
